2012-08-09 ROME, Italy, August 9, 2012/African Press Organization (APO)/ -- Minister for Foreign Affairs Giulio Terzi expressed his “deep satisfaction” with the National Transitional Council's handover of power yesterday evening to the newly elected Libyan National Council.
The minister described it as “another step forward on the road to a democratic Libya, a concrete and tangible sign of the new leadership's democratic maturity and responsibility”.
“Also a positive sign for the future of the new Libya”, Terzi concluded, “is that the handover took place within the prescribed timeframe and in a peaceful and mutually respectful climate, which confirms every hope for completion of the democratic transition in Libya, to which the Italian government will continue to ensure its full support”.
